Training

The CMCOMMS Medical Logistics Practitioner Training Program is a practical competence-based continuous professional development program covering the disciplines of Medical, Logistics, and Good Practices.

The program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills they need to handle medical cargo throughout the supply chain in line with Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GDP), thereby building quality into the product.

The program covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Medical products and their properties
  • Pharmaceutical supply chain management
  • GDP principles and requirements
  • Warehousing and transportation of medical products
  • Quality management systems for medical logistics
  • Risk management in medical logistics

The program is delivered through a combination of lectures, workshops, and practical exercises. Participants are also required to complete a project on a real-world medical logistics challenge.

The CMCOMMS Medical Logistics Practitioner Training Program has been accredited by the Professional Certification Board of Zimbabwe (PCZ). This means that participants who successfully complete the program will be awarded a PCZ-accredited certificate.

Activities to date

The CMCOMMS Medical Logistics Practitioner Training Program has been running since 2019. To date, the program has trained more than 1000 participants from a variety of organizations, including the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC), Natpharm, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP, and UNFPA.

In 2022, CMCOMMS hosted more than 20 webinars on medical logistics topics with global presenters, including Prof Andrew Brown, Sanjay Saha – Bee Skilled Global, and Griet Samyn – I+academy.
